Commencement of the Completion Works for the Eastern Expressway Project, Phase II (Second Stage)
The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology has begun the completion works for the Eastern Expressway Project, Phase II (Second Stage), from Al-Kamil to Sur. This project, executed by Al Tasnim Projects LLC, connects the Wilayats of North Al Sharqiyah and South Al Sharqiyah governorates.
The project costs exceed 68 million Omani Riyals and includes several phases of remaining works. These phases involve upgrading the current road and converting it into a dual carriageway with three lanes, starting from Wilayat Al-Kamil and extending to Wilayat Sur over a distance of approximately 52 kilometers. Additionally, the project includes upgrading the road from Bilad Sur Roundabout to Sur Plaza Hotel, converting it into a dual carriageway with two lanes over a distance of about 3 kilometers.
The project also entails constructing an overpass, several wadi crossing bridges, arch bridges, vehicle tunnels, and pedestrian underpasses. The works will also include completing the lighting and installing traffic signals in Wilayat Sur.
This project aims to be a vital artery that facilitates traffic flow and improves road communications between different areas in the governorates, thereby enhancing economic and social development in the region. The project is expected to take approximately 22 months to complete.
Notably, the project's works will include converting Bilad Sur Roundabout to traffic signals and completing the road in Wilayat Sur with lighting installation over approximately 3 kilometers.
