The Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology Issues Unified Warehouse Standards and Requirements Guide

August 07, 2024

In collaboration with authorities involved in licensing warehousing activities, Oman Logistics Center, part of the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, has issued a unified guide for warehouse standards and requirements in Oman. This guide covers standards and requirements for refrigerated, frozen, and dry warehouses, as well as medical warehouses, customs warehouses, and veterinary product warehouses.

The guide aims to unify the requirements and standards of warehouse designs with the established safety and security measures for workers, products, and the environment from all entities that are giving permits.

Warehouses are a crucial part of supply chains, playing a significant role in storing final products or those in pre-final stages. Warehouse designs vary depending on the stored materials and the user's or owner's needs regarding storage capacities and operational mechanisms.

Moreover, the guide is intended to facilitate investment procedures in Oman's warehousing sector. It will provide necessary information during the inquiry stage about the required standards for each warehouse, aligning with Oman's logistics strategy to facilitate trade, increase the logistics sector's contribution to the national economy, and enhance the quality of services in the warehousing sector.
